PRINCIPAL OFFICERS OF THE UNIVERSITY
The Chancellor
The Chancellor is the formal Head of the University. He/She is appointed by the Visitor in consultation with the Federal Executive Council. He/She attends the University only on special occasions such as convocation ceremony for the conferment of degrees.
The Pro- Chancellor
The Pro-Chancellor is the Chairman of University Governing Council. He/She is appointed by the Visitor.
The Vice Chancellor
The Vice Chancellor is the Chief Executive and academic head of the University, appointed by the Visitor in consultation with the University Council. He/She is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the University. To assist him/her are two Deputy Vice Chancellors, the Deans, the Registrar and other Principal Officers.
The Deputy Vice Chancellors
There are two Deputy Vice Chancellors to assist the Vice Chancellor in both the academic and administrative duties and responsibilities. In exercising their delegated functions, the Deputy Vice Chancellors are required to consult with the Vice Chancellor in all instances that pertain to policy issues and financial commitments. They are to keep the Vice Chancellor informed of all important matters that arise in course of performing their duties. One of them acts as the Vice Chancellor when the office of the Vice Chancellor is vacant or the Vice Chancellor for any reason is absent or unable to perform his functions as Vice Chancellor. The Deputy Vice Chancellors are elected from among the Professors for a period of two years in the first instance.

The Registrar
The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer of the University, and is the Secretary to the University Governing Council as well as the Senate, Congregation and Convocation. He/She is appointed by Council. The Registrar is responsible to the Vice Chancellor in providing the necessary administrative services for the smooth operation of the University.
The Bursar
The Bursar is the head of Bursary Department and also the Chief Financial Officer of the University. He/She is appointed by Council and is directly responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the financial matters of the University. The Librarian
The Librarian is responsible for the policy formulation and general management of the University Library. He/She is appointed by Council and is directly responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the University Library. He/She is also the Secretary to the University Library Committee. |
