School of Engineering and Engineering Technology (SEET).

Introduction

The School of Engineering and Engineering Technology (SEET) comprises of five departments: Agricultural Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering and, Mechanical Engineering.

For students to proceed from 100 level to 200 level a cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 2.0 is required. In addition, he/she must obtain 6 credits of Mathematics, 5 credits of Physics including at least two theory courses, and 5 credits of Chemistry. He/She must also obtain 10 credits of General Studies. Common courses are offered to all 200 level students of School of Engineering and Engineering Technology while students offer core courses and electives peculiar to their various departments in 300 level and above.

Programmes
School of Engineering and Engineering Technology offers Bachelor of Engineering (B. Eng.) degrees in the following areas of specialization: Agricultural Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering.

SWEP and SIWES

In addition to the academic programmes, students are expected to participate in a minimum of three (3) months Students Work Experience Programme (SWEP), which takes place during the second semester break for all 200 level students in each department. Furthermore, students are also required to participate in the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) for a period of six months during the second semester of their 400 level of study. Students with eight (8) or more course credit deficiencies at the end of the first semester of the 400 level are not eligible to proceed on SIWES until such deficiencies have been cleared.

Admission Requirements:
There are three modes of admission into B. Eng. degree programmes namely Remedial, U.M.E. and Direct Entry.

REMEDIAL: An average grade of “C” in all subjects offered is the minimum requirement for absorption into SEET. Some departments however do set higher absorption requirements.

UME: Admission through UME to pursue B.Eng. degree programmes requires that the candidate must have at least 5 credits, at SSCE including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Technical drawing, Mathematics and English Language at not more than two sittings.

Direct Entry: For entry by Direct Entry, the following qualifications are considered:
i      HSC/GCE (Advanced) level,
ii     Ordinary National Diploma
iii     Higher National Diploma

Also required is four passes at credit level in SSCE/GCE 'O' Level in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English Language in addition to the above.
