Bursar

Mr. Mufutau Alabi Bello was first appointed Bursar of the Federal University of Technology, Minna on July 5, 2004 and was reappointed July 5, 2009 to date.
Mr. Bello who hails from Lagos was born on May 9, 1962. He attended Ansar-ud-deen Primary School, Alakoro Lagos and St. Paul’s Anglican School, Sagamu, Ogun State respectively. He proceeded to Ansar-ud-deen Grammer School, Surulere, Lagos for his West African School Certificate and graduated in 1979. The alumnus of University of Ilorin obtained his Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Economics with Second Class Upper Division in 1984 and also won department and faculty prize at Unilorin in 1984. He attended Professional Accounting Training at the PricewaterhouseCoopers (one of the big four accounting firm globally); 1987-1992 where he obtained Final of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, (ICAN).
He had earlier worked with the National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) now PHCN Headquarters, Marina Lagos as an Account Clerk; 1979-1980. During his service year, August 1984 to July 1985 he was the NYSC Accountant in charge of Bank reconciliation at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri. Between 1985 and 1987 he was Accountant II, Expenditure Unit, Bursary Department of the University of Ife, Ile-Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University). In 1987 to 1993, the seasoned Accountant transferred his services to Coopers & Lybrand (Chartered Accountants) now PricewaterhouseCoopers. He was at the National Library of Nigeria, Headquarters, Lagos and Federal Medical Centre, Owo, Ondo State before joining the services of FUT, Minna as the third substantive Bursar in 2004.
Professionally, Mr. Bello is a Chartered Accountant and Management consultant to so many organizations. He is a Fellow of Nigerian Economic Society, Chartered Institute of Taxation and Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.
He has attended several seminars on related discipline both at home and abroad. In 2007 he was a member of two Committees of Bursars Representative in Conjunction with the Office of the Auditor General for the Federation and National Universities Commission on review of “A manual of Uniform Accounting System for Nigerian Universities” and the production of “Training Manual for Accountants, Internal Auditors, Store Officers and Stock Verifies in Public Service.” Mr. Bello also was an External Assessor for the appointment of Bursar at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto, University of Ilorin, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai and Federal Polytechnic, Bida. In addition, he is a consultant to many institutions including Budget Office of the Federation, Abuja, Federal College of Education, Obudu, Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin etc.
He is happily married with children and plays Golf.
