SCHOOL OF SCIENCE AND SCIENCE EDUCATION (SSSE)
Introduction
The School of Science and Science Education is one of the four specialized schools in the University, offering courses leading to the award of B. Tech. specific objectives, these objectives includes:
(a) The production of technologists in different areas of applied science who would be able to create job opportunities for themselves and others.
(b) The initiation of applied research and offering of consultancy services to the public and private sectors through multi- faceted computer and other facilities.
(c) The production of science and technology teachers to teach the technology of production of science equipment at the Sub-Degree and Post–Degree Diploma Levels.
The School of Science and Science Education consists of nine (9) departments eight of which offer B. Tech. degrees in the following subject areas and applied options (where available ) for a minimum of three years depending on the point or mode of entry.

DEPARTMENTS
Biological Science Department
The Biological Science Department offers B. Tech. degree in Biochemistry, Biology and Microbiology. The applied options are:
1. Biology
2. Microbiology
3. Biochemistry

Chemistry Department
Offering B. Tech. degree in Chemistry with the following options:
1. Polymer Technology
2. Chemistry

Geography Department
Offering B. Tech. degree in Geography, with the following option: 1. Meteorology
2. Remote Sensing Application

Geology Department
Offering B. Tech. degree in Geology

Maths / Computer Science Department
Offering B. Tech. degree in Mathematics with the following options:
1. Mathematics / Computer Science
2. Statistics / Computer Science

Physics Department
Offering B. Tech. in Physics with the following options:
1. Electronics
2. Telecommunications
3. Metallurgy
4. Electric Power Machine
5. Computer Science.

Science Education Department
Offering B. Tech. degree in the following areas:
1. Biology Education
2. Physics education
3. Chemistry Education
4. Geography Education
5. Geology Education
6. Mathematics Education.
The option is Education Technology.

Industrial and Technology Education Department
The department offers B. Tech. degree in Industrial and Technology Education, and has the following options:
1. Automobile Technology
2. Electrical / Electronics Technology
3. Building Technology
4. Metal Work Technology
5. Wood Work Technology

Library and Information Technology Department
The department offers B. Tech. degree in Library and Information Technology.
Admission Requirement:
UME Requirements: Admission into the School of Science and Science Education vis- a vis the University through JAMB to pursue a 5 year degree programme requires that:
i. The candidates must not be less than 16 years
ii. The candidates must have five (5) credit passes in SSCE including Mathematics and English language obtained in not more than two sittings.

Direct Entry Requirements:
The required subjects differ for each department of the school, however candidates with the following qualifications are generally considered and they spend a minimum of three (3) years to obtain B. Tech. degree certificates.
The qualification includes:
i. HSC/ GCE (advanced level)
ii. Ordinary National Diploma
iii. Higher National Diploma
Federal Tech. Certificate (FTC) and Technical Teachers Certificate (TTC)
