The training tagged “Positive Attitude to Work Using the CEFE Methodology” was done in two batches, two days each, at the Entrepreneurship Centre, Main Campus.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the event, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Musbau Adewumi Akanji, FNSBMB, FAS, emphasized the need for staff to pursue self-development and as well impact on the lives of other people.
The VC who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Oluwole Morenikeji maintained that Nigeria needs a crop of people who are prepared to make sacrifice.

He noted the CEFE trainers’ high sense discipline and commended them for their commitment and dedication.
While thanking Management for the training, the Director, UHS, Dr. Uthman Adegoke, urged the University to broaden the scope of the training to include leadership training for many staff members that are approaching leadership positions to avoid situations where people would take up responsibilities they were not prepared for.

Commenting, CEFE Lead Trainer, Prof. Olufunmilayo Akanya stated that their driving force as trainers was the desire to see men and women change for the better.

In a chat with Campus News shortly after the programme, Coordinator, Competency based Economies through the Formation of Entreprise (CEFE), Dr. Caroline Alenoghena explained that the training involved practical sessions of Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) analysis and simulation of hotel worker-customer interactions using a hypothetical title of “Endangered Hotels,” where some of the participants took on roles of guests, while others acted as staff of three different hotels.

One of the participants, Dr. Abdulsalam Abdulfatah described the training as interesting, noting that it opened their eyes to the need for networking and building partnerships. He commended the CEFE trainers for their high level of competence during the training. “ We are not leaving here the way we came,” he said, thanking the University Management for giving them the opportunity to have the training and calling for more of such.

On her part, Dr. Amaka Mgbemena who commended the trainers for being passionate about the job, said the training would lead to positive changes in their service delivery.

All cadres of staff at the UHS, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, laboratory scientists and technologists among others participated at the training.
The participants were issued certificates of participation at the end of the exercise.
