VC INAUGURATES CODeL GOVERNING BOARD

The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Prof. Musbau Adewumi Akanji, FAS, FNSBMB, has inaugurated the Governing Board of the Centre for Open Distance and e-Learning (CODeL) of the University.


The inauguration took place yesterday at the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room, Main Campus.

Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor, who is the Chairman of the Board said the ceremony was a rejuvenation of the existing Board, adding that Management wants the Centre to be fully effective from 2017/2018 session while noting that Council is interested in seeing all Centres of the University in a functional state.

Prof. Akanji gave assurance that Management was willing to do everything possible to ensure that the Centre fully starts operation by 2017/2018 academic session.
He thanked other members of the Board for attending the ceremony while charging them to pay unscheduled periodic visits to the Centre in order to put the Centre on it’s toes to achieve its set goals.

The Director of the Centre, Prof. Abiodun Aibinu, said the essence of the Centre is to provide access to higher education to a large number of interested students through e-learning, he highlighted the problems faced by the Centre and appealed to Management to look into them so as to ensure that the Centre takes off fully by next session.

Members of the Governing Board include: all the Principal Officers, Directors of CODeL, Academic Planning Unit (APU), Information Technology Services (ITS), Legal Unit and also the HODs of Computer Science and Entrepreneurship and Business Studies. Others are the Deputy Director CODeL as well as the Secretary of the Centre.
