PROF AKANJI PAYS TRIBUTE TO LATE MRS COMFORT NDAGI

2017 at the age of 82.

The Vice-Chancellor eulogized the deceased during a commendation service held yesterday at the Cathedral Church of St. Peter, Minna.

Prof. Akanji described the late Mrs. Comfort Ndagi as an exemplary mother who was God fearing and accommodating, adding that the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Jonathan Ndagi succeeded in office largely due to the support of Mama who stood by him.

The Vice-Chancellor, who was represented at the service by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Oluwole Olakanmi Morenikeji said the University is still testifying to the excellent work of its pioneer Vice-Chancellor during his tenure, which contributed immensely to the establishment and solidification of the University on which the effective and efficient administration of its human and material resources are presently progressing.

He stated that the immeasurable achievements recorded by Prof. Ndagi as Vice-Chancellor of the University would not have been possible without the support and contributions of his late wife, Mrs. Comfort Ndagi.

“Behind every successful man, there is a successful woman, Mrs. Comfort Ndagi was solemnly behind our successful pioneer Vice-Chancellor, as she was not only supporting her husband to succeed in his administrative responsibilities, she was also a mother to all members of the University community,” the VC disclosed.

He noted that the Management and members of the University community remain grateful for her contributions to the services of the institution which are worthy of emulation by the younger generation.

The VC said her wealth of experience would be missed and prayed that God would grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Late Mrs. Comfort Yiye Ndagi was born on the 18th of December, 1935 in Doko, Lavun Local Government Area, Niger State. She attended W.T.C. Kano in December (1957), T.I.S.E.P Bida, December (1968) and A.T.C Zaria in June 1974, where she got her N.C.E. She went to the University of Wisconsin, Madison U.S.A where she bagged B.Sc in April 1976 and also obtained a Master’s degree from the same university in August 1977.

She was an Assistant Lecturer at ATC Zaria from 1977 to September 1983. Between 1983 and 1988, she was a Principal Lecturer at the Niger State College of Education, Minna from.

Mama got married to Prof. Jonathan Othman Ndagi on the 2nd of January, 1958. They were blessed with five children and nine grandchildren.

The requiem mass will hold today at the Cathedral Church of St. John, along BCC Road, Bida after which she will be buried at the family compound in Bida, Niger State.
