Members of the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (COBON), have visited the Federal University of Technology, Minna on Thursday September 5, 2019.

Speaking when they were received at the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room, Main Campus.

The team leader, BLDR. Prof. Sanni Kunya, thanked the Management for the hospitality accorded them and said that the team hope to see a good and successful exercise, adding that the aim of the exercise was to take a look at the University’s Building Technology Department programme.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Abdullahi Bala, fsssn, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Yahaya Ahmed Iyaka welcomed the team, saying that the Management is hopeful that at the end of the exercise, the team will use their experience to advice the University on how best to improve on the programme. He assured them that most of the things needed will be provided for them to make the exercise successful.

In a related development, speaking while presenting the team’s preliminary report, Prof. Kunya stated that the department has a clearly defined and well spelt out regulations of COBON, adequate curriculum for the programme, adequate admission requirements, good standard test and examinations, available and well published academic regulations, well equipped physical facilities, existence of external moderation scheme and functional library.

He urged COBON members in the department to renew their licences and advised Management to use professionals in the University to execute building projects. He acknowledged the University Management for the good work done so far.

The DVC Academic thanked the team and assured them that Management will liaise with the Department to look into all the areas of concerns raised.
