As a way of giving back to the institution that has made them what they are today, the 2013/2014 final year students of the University have donated four Gazebo huts to the University through the “Leave - A- Legacy Project”.
Commissioning the project recently at the Students Recreational Garden, near former Bus Park, Main campus, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Musbau Adewumi Akanji, FNSBMB, represented by the Deputy Vice - Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Abdullahi Bala commended the students of the institution for their contribution in giving back positively to their Alma mater.
“Giving back to Alma mater is the vogue all over the world, however giving back collectively to the institution at the point of graduating is more inspiring, “He echoed”.
He expressed appreciation to the Director and staff of the Directorate of Collaborations, Affiliations & Linkages (DCAL) for adequately supervising the project and assured the Directorate of Management continuous support to the programme.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Director of DCAL, Prof. Ogbonaya Chukwu thanked Management and the ex students for seeing to the actualization of the project.
Prof. Chukwu noted that the importance of Leave-A- Legacy project amongst others is to inspire the need for the students to give something back to the University that has trained them and raises students’ awareness of the existence of the Alumni Association.
In his address, the Chairman Students Committee on 2013/2014 Leave - A - Legacy project, Mr. Christopher Xystus expressed gratitude to management, DCAL and his set for their support, guidance and cooperation in seeing to the actualization of the project.
He revealed that the Gazebo hut which is for relaxation received the highest votes during the selection process, adding that the mission of the project is to make a difference in the lives that follow and to leave remarkable footprint in the sands of time.
The Secretary, Leave a Legacy Implementation Project Miss. Onyinye Uzochukwu, in her vote of thanks expressed appreciation to Management and DCAL for their support to the execution of the project.
Three of the Gazebo huts are sited at the Main Campus while the other one is at the Bosso Campus.
