The new Area Manager, Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Mrs. Ifeoma Ihezua, accompanied by other officials of the organization on Monday, March 12, 2017, paid a courtesy call to the Vice-Chancellor at the VC’s Conference Room, Main Campus.
Speaking during the visit, Mrs. Ihezue said the visit was to acquaint herself with the University Management as it was her first visit since she assumed office in October 2016.
Mrs. Ihezue said FUT, Minna has contributed immensely to ITF in the area of SIWES and expressed appreciation for the encouragement and support given to the organisation by the University.
The Area Manager disclosed that ITF mandate is not only SIWES but has other programmes and trainings which are to the benefit of staff as well as students. She further sought for partnership between the University and ITF.
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Musbau Adewumi Akanji, FNSBMB, FAS, said Management was delighted to receive the team, adding that there is a symbiotic relationship between the institution and ITF.
Prof. Akanji disclosed that industrial training is a core aspect of the University’s programme, without which a student cannot graduate, noting that 400 Level students would have been turned out for IT by the end of March but due to the recent students’ unrest it had to be shifted.
The Vice-Chancellor expressed FUT, Minna’s willingness to continue to support ITF. He congratulated the new Area Manager on her appointment and prayed that her time will drive ITF, Minna forward positively.
