The Anebira Forum of the Federal University of Technology, Minna has honoured Professors Suleiman Omeiza Sadiku, Prof. Samuel Ahmed Garba, Prof. Emannuel Jose Ohize and late Dr. Nasiru Bello in recognition of their contributions to the development of the forum in the institution.
The award ceremony took place on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the Multi-purpose Hall, Gidan Matasa, Bosso, Minna, Niger State.
In his address at the event, the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Musbau Adewumi Akanji FNSBMB, FAS commended the Forum for their landmark achievements and for what they have done for the University.
The Vice-Chancellor, represented by the Dean, Students’ Affair Division, Prof. Abubakar Saidu admonished the Forum to continue to support the present administration and congratulated the recipients while wishing them more recognitions in future.
Speaking earlier at the event, the Chairman of the occasion and former Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Muhammed Salihu Audu urged the Forum to continue to work closely for the good of the Ebira Kingdom, Kogi State and FUT, Minna at large.
Prof. Audu expressed appreciation to the Forum for finding him worthy to chair the occasion while assuring them of his continuous support to the growth of the Forum. He congratulated the awardees on their well-deserved awards and tasked them to continue to provide fatherly advice to the Forum.
In his welcome address, the Chairman, Anebira Forum, FUT, Minna, Engr. Dr. Salawu Abdulrahman said the Forum thought it wise to recognize and reward its deserving members who have distinguished themselves over the years in the course of service to the people.
The Chairman expressed delight with the University Management, staff and students of the University as well as the host communities for providing the enabling environment for them to excel.
Delivering his goodwill message, the former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of the University, Prof. Akim Osunde applauded the Forum for honouring their illustrious sons who have carved a niche for themselves in their chosen fields of endeavour, adding that the event is a show of unity among members.
“The Anebira Forum is the most vibrant association in FUT, Minna and I urge you all to keep it up. You constitute a significant voting bloc and no group will ignore you because of your number,” he declared.
Prof. Osunde commended the former Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Audu for continuing to identify with his people and advised the Forum to work for the good of the University.
Responding on behalf of other recipients, Prof. Garba thanked the Forum for honouring them and assured them that the recipients would continue to make the Forum proud. He also prayed for the repose of the soul of late Dr. Nasiru Bello.
Prof. Garba was awarded with the title of Ohi-Udi (The Founder), the immediate past Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Admin) of the institution, Prof. Sadiku was honoured with the title of Omeizakuavo (The exceptional philanthropist), Prof. Ohize was bestowed with the title of Okwuozagu (The Convener) while post-humorous award was given to late Dr. Nasiru Bello, the pioneer University Librarian.
