Keeping faith with the vision
“If you want to travel fast then travel alone. If you want to go far travel together.”----African Proverb. (preface to our 2015 Annual Report)

For the Federal University of Technology, Minna, the Year 2015 has been a very fulfilling one both in terms of the tempo of academic activities and in the welter of achievements recorded across units, departments and faculties.

Quite in contradistinction to the laid back ambience of its two campuses, this foremost technology training institution had never really stopped growing – in numbers of students, numbers of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, numbers of buildings, numbers of courses as well as research programmes. • FUTMINNA DONATES POLICE OUTPOST TO HOST COMMUNITY

Desirous of the need to reduce crime rate as well as ensure safety of lives and property within the University host community, the Federal University of Technology, Minna has donated a well-furnished Police outpost to its host community.

The project was flagged off by the Niger State Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Mu’azu on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the Gidan Kwano Village.

Speaking before flagging off the project, the Police boss said the project is a great gift to mark his one year anniversary as Commissioner of Police in Niger State, adding that the relationship between the University and the Police has been cordial.

“I must confess that FUT, Minna is the most Police friendly higher institution in the state,” the Commissioner disclosed.

The Commissioner commended the University Management for the kind gesture while assuring them that the outpost would serve the purpose for which it was established.

“I have directed the immediate posting of Police officers to man this outpost for it to take off without delay as this will go a long way in checkmating criminal activities within the University community and its environs,” he stated.

He disclosed that the donation was the first of its kind in the state and urged other corporate organisations in the state to emulate what FUT, Minna has done.

The Police boss admonished students of the University to focus on their studies and shun all forms of criminality, especially cultism, drug abuse and other social vices that are inimical to their education.

Speaking earlier, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Musbau Adewumi Akanji, FNSBMB, FAS, stated that the project is dear to the University in view of the need to address the incessant cases of robbery attacks on students within the community as majority of the students live outside the campus.

Prof. Akanji called on the students to be conscious of their environment and be law abiding citizens in order to ensure peaceful coexistence in the community.

The Vice-Chancellor assured the Nigeria Police that the University would do everything possible within its capacity to support them to fully discharge their duties in the community.

He further expressed appreciation to the Police Commissioner for finding time out of his busy schedule to flag off the project.

The Police outpost is now under the direct supervision of the DPO in charge of Kpakungu division.
